Ghana Premier League side Asante Kotoko forward Abdulai Gazale has been handed a three-match suspension and fined GHS 5,000 following an incident of misconduct, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed.
According to a statement from the GFA Disciplinary Committee, Gazale was found guilty of breaching the association’s code of conduct during a recent league fixture. The offence reportedly occurred during or after the match, with the player’s actions deemed contrary to the principles of fair play and professionalism.
The ruling stated that Gazale’s behaviour warranted both a sporting and financial sanction, leading to the imposition of a three-match ban across domestic competitions, in addition to the monetary fine.
“The Ghana Football Association remains committed to enforcing discipline and upholding the integrity of the game,” the statement said. “Players are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the values of Ghana football at all times.”
The suspension means Gazale will miss Asante Kotoko’s next three league matches, dealing a blow to the club as they continue their campaign in the ongoing season. The club has the right to appeal the decision within the timeframe provided under GFA regulations.
The GFA reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on misconduct, emphasizing that disciplinary measures are necessary to maintain order and respect within the domestic game.
