Career Path and Background

Annan began his European football journey in Italy, joining the Bologna U19 side after moving from Ghana at a young age. He developed within the youth ranks and later gained valuable first-team experience through loan spells:

  • 2022–2023: Loaned to Imolese (Serie C, Italy)

  • 2023–2024: Loaned to Novi Pazar (Serbia), where he impressed and attracted attention

  • June 2024: Signed permanently for Red Star Belgrade, Serbia’s most successful club

Breakout Season in Serbia

During the 2024–25 season, Annan was loaned to OFK Beograd, another Serbian club affiliated with Red Star. He was a standout performer, featuring in 29 league matches combined for OFK Beograd and Red Star.

After returning to Red Star in the latter half of the season, he played a crucial role as they clinched the Serbian SuperLiga title.

Across all competitions that season, Annan amassed:

  • 38 appearances

  • 1 goal

  • 7 assists

His form earned him increasing recognition, including a senior national team debut for Ghana in March 2024.

Joining Saint-Étienne: A New Chapter in France

AS Saint-Étienne, one of France’s most historic clubs, currently competing in Ligue 2, sees Annan as a key reinforcement in their quest for promotion back to Ligue 1. His dynamism down the left flank, defensive awareness, and attacking contributions are expected to bring much-needed balance and quality to the team.

Annan also reunites with fellow Ghanaian Augustine Boakye, who has been instrumental for the club in recent seasons.

First Words as a Saint-Étienne Player

Upon completing the transfer, Annan shared his excitement and commitment:

“I’m very happy to sign for AS Saint-Étienne. The club is building a strong team with a great staff and massive support from its fans. It’s an honour for me to join this club. I’ll give my all in every match to help the team achieve its goals.”
