Renowned Ghanaian referee Daniel Laryea is among 23 match officials from Ghana who have been awarded 2026 FIFA Refereeing Badges, marking another significant milestone for officiating in the country.
The badges, issued annually by FIFA, certify referees who are eligible to officiate at international competitions during the 2026 calendar year. The latest list reflects Ghana’s continued strong presence on the global refereeing stage.
Daniel Laryea, who has built a solid reputation through consistent performances in domestic competitions and major CAF tournaments, once again headlines the Ghanaian contingent. His inclusion reinforces his standing as one of Africa’s most trusted officials and keeps him in contention for high-profile international assignments.
The list also features referees, assistant referees and match officials across various categories, highlighting the depth and quality of Ghana’s refereeing pool. Their selection follows rigorous assessments by the Ghana Football Association (GFA), in collaboration with CAF and FIFA, based on performance, fitness and adherence to officiating standards.
Officials of the GFA have welcomed the development, describing it as recognition of the hard work, discipline and professionalism of Ghanaian referees. The association has also reiterated its commitment to continuous training and development to ensure the officials remain competitive at the highest level.
With the 2026 FIFA badge secured, Laryea and his colleagues are now eligible to officiate at CAF competitions, FIFA tournaments and international friendlies, further projecting Ghana’s image as a leading force in African football officiating.
