The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has congratulated the men’s 4x100m relay team following their successful qualification for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, describing the achievement as a proud moment for Ghanaian athletics.

The relay quartet sealed their place at the global showpiece after delivering an outstanding performance during the qualifying rounds, where they clocked a national record time of 37.93 seconds, underlining Ghana’s growing strength in sprint events on the international stage.

In a statement, the GOC praised the athletes for their discipline, teamwork, and resilience, noting that their qualification reflects years of hard work and commitment by both the runners and their technical team.

“The Ghana Olympic Committee commends the 4x100m relay team for this remarkable achievement. Qualifying for the World Athletics Championships is no small feat, and the team has made the nation proud,” the statement said.

The GOC also acknowledged the efforts of the coaching staff, Ghana Athletics, and all stakeholders who contributed to the team’s preparation and success, emphasizing the importance of sustained support for athletes representing the country at the highest level.

Qualification for the championships in Tokyo places Ghana among the world’s elite sprinting nations and offers the relay team an opportunity to build on their recent performances, having already impressed with a fourth-place finish in a highly competitive final.

As preparations continue ahead of the championships, the GOC expressed confidence that the team will continue to fly the Ghana flag high and inspire a new generation of athletes across the country.
