Hearts of Oak Cruise Past Eleven Wonders at Legon

Hearts of Oak recorded an emphatic 3–0 victory over Eleven Wonders in their Ghana Premier League Matchday 20 encounter at the University of Ghana Stadium on Saturday, delivering a composed and dominant performance under the guidance of head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani.

The Phobians made a blistering start and opened the scoring in the eighth minute. Mawuli Wayo showed great composure to finish neatly after being played through by Henry Boateng, giving Hearts an early advantage.

Buoyed by the opener, Hearts stayed firmly on the front foot. Baba Adamu came close to doubling the lead shortly after, while a well-organized defensive unit ensured Eleven Wonders found little joy going forward.

Hearts continued to dictate proceedings through intelligent use of set pieces and quick switches of play. Despite both sides sharing possession evenly in the first half, the Phobians went into the break deservedly ahead, having registered four shots and won four corners.

The second half began with renewed intent from Hearts, who introduced two substitutions at the restart. The fresh legs injected greater attacking urgency and sustained pressure on the Wonders defence.

Hamza Issah missed a clear opportunity to extend the lead in the 51st minute after being teed up by Emmanuel Amankwah, but Hearts eventually got their second goal in the 62nd minute. Substitute Martin Karikari reacted quickest inside the box to turn home after a period of sustained pressure.

Following a brief cooling break, Hearts maintained control of the contest. Their dominance was rewarded again in the 76th minute when Hamza Issah was brought down inside the penalty area. Kelvin Osei Asibey stepped up and confidently converted from the spot to put the game beyond doubt at 3–0.

Cephas Osabutey was later introduced to make his competitive debut for Hearts as the Phobians comfortably saw out the remainder of the match.

Eleven Wonders mounted a late push, earning a free kick and a corner deep into stoppage time, but Hearts’ defence remained resolute to preserve a clean sheet.

The match statistics underscored Hearts of Oak’s superiority, as they finished with eight shots, three on target, 53 percent possession and five corners. Eleven Wonders, by contrast, managed just three attempts on goal and 47 percent possession.

The victory lifts Hearts of Oak to second place on the league table with 35 points, five behind leaders Medeama SC and two ahead of Bibiani Gold Stars, both of whom are in action on Sunday.

For Eleven Wonders, the defeat compounds their struggles at the foot of the table as their fight for survival continues.
