Jordan Ayew Vows to Make Ghana Proud After Securing 2026 World Cup Qualification

Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Ghanaians and all stakeholders following the team’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana sealed their place at next year’s global showpiece after a 1-0 victory over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium, a result that saw the Black Stars finish top of Group I. The qualification marks Ghana’s fifth appearance at the World Cup in the last six editions, underlining the nation’s consistency on the global stage.

Ayew, who played a pivotal role throughout the qualifying campaign, was involved in 14 goals — scoring seven and assisting seven — to help Ghana secure their ticket to North America.

In a message shared after the game, the Leicester City forward thanked fans, teammates, and officials for their unwavering support, assuring that the team remains committed to making the country proud at the tournament.

“We’re committed to making Ghana proud. This qualification means a lot to us and to every Ghanaian. We’ve worked hard as a team, and now we’ll focus on preparing well to represent the nation with pride,” Ayew said.

For Ayew, the 2026 World Cup will be his third appearance at the global stage, having previously featured in Brazil 2014 and Qatar 2022.

The 33-year-old’s leadership and experience are expected to be vital as Ghana aims to make a strong impression at the upcoming tournament.
