Ghanaian international Kamaldeen Sulemana has revealed that the success of his close friend and national teammate, Mohammed Kudus, continues to inspire him to push harder in his own career.
The two attackers share a deep-rooted history, having developed their footballing skills together at the Right to Dream Academy in Ghana. From there, they both progressed to Danish side FC Nordsjaelland before their careers took different paths.
While Kudus has gone from strength to strength—most recently shining in the Premier League with West Ham United—Kamaldeen’s journey has been a bit more turbulent. Currently with Southampton, he’s experienced a mix of highs and lows, including the club’s relegation following a defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.
Despite these challenges, Kamaldeen remains optimistic and finds inspiration in the achievements of his friends.
“My best two friends play in the Premier League. Abdul Fatawu is at Leicester and Mohammed Kudus is at West Ham,” Kamaldeen told ShowMax. “Kudus hasn’t had the best season this time around, but he was absolutely brilliant last season. Seeing him do well motivates me to give my all.”
He added, “It’s amazing that all of us are now in the Premier League and performing at a high level. I remember watching Kudus dominate last season, and I told him, ‘I’ll see you in the Premier League next season so we can tear it up together.’”
Although Southampton will now be playing for pride after relegation, Kamaldeen remains determined to finish the season strong, carrying the belief that his best days are still ahead—driven in part by the inspiring rise of his ‘best friend’ Kudus.
