The 2026 FIFA World Cup Group G fixtures will take place from the 15th to the 27th of June 2026 in Los Angeles, Seattle, and Vancouver. This is a mini-guide on the four teams involved in the group: Belgium, Egypt, Iran, and New Zealand.
Belgium
Kevin De Bruyne, Thibaut Courtois, and Romelu Lukaku are all likely to be taking part in what would probably be their last World Cup this summer, bringing an end to one of international football’s most talented yet underachieving golden generations. With young stars such as Jeremy Doku ready to aid the cause, KDB and his crew may yet bow out with a smile.

Egypt
The Pharaohs have historically struggled to replicate their continental dominance on the world stage. With this World Cup likely to be the final one for iconic winger Mohammed Salah, Omar Marmoush and co would be looking to change Egypt’s fortunes and help the North Africans reach the knockout stages for the first time since 1934.

Iran
Iran has had a tumultuous few months outside football, with rumours abounding that they may be forced to withdraw from the World Cup this summer because of their conflict with host nation United States of America. Should Iran be allowed to compete in the tournament they qualified for, they would be sure to bring some firepower in the form of legends Mehdi Taremi and Sardar Azmoun.
Nickname – Team Melli

Best Finish – Group Stage (1978, 1998, 2006, 2014, 2018, 2022)

Key Player – Mehdi Taremi

New Zealand
New Zealand would be one of the nations empowered by the expansion to 48 teams starting from this World Cup, as they would be aware that a repeat of their unbeaten group stage at the 2010 World Cup might now be enough to see them progress to the knockouts (even if they don’t win a game). The All Whites would need Chris Wood at his imperious best to stand a real chance of progressing.
Nickname – All Whites

Head Coach – Darren Bazeley
