Musah Lawson who has been avoided by many boxers in Ghana for various reasons is set to mount the ring on the 6th of march 2025 with Obodai Sai, another boxer who looked promising to take the career to some heights but lost focus along the way.
Sai whose record stands at thirty-seven (37) wins and three (loses) with a draw became a contender when Derrick Quaye could not honour his rants by signing the contract and Alidu Suleman withdrawing with little to no explanation to the ‘Awoodade’ team.
In an exclusive interview with Musah Lawson, the boxer who has been hungry to fight any boxer ready shared,
“It is very funny how a boxer calls himself a champion yet keeps running away from fights. I have always been ready for any boxer who wants to share the ring with mw and my management and fans can testify to that.
After my two opponents refused to sign for the upcoming fight slatted for the 6th March, the organisers pushed to ensure fans of boxing still get a fight worthy to rejuvenate their love for the sport.
I was extremely happy when I got news from the organisers that they have been able to get a boxer who is willing to fight me but i was more surprised and happy when he mentioned Obodai. I have always wanted to share the ring with him at the same time I didn’t want to call him out to look as if I am disrespecting him.
Obodai is one of the few boxers in Ghana that I respect and you would probably hear little to no bad news about him. I still respect him and want to learn more from him in the ring.
He comes into this fight with a lot of experience and endurance and that is the main reason why I am so happy to share the ring with him. I know my senior is a wonderful boxer but I am urging fans and boxing enthusiasts to come in their numbers to experience a unique style from me.
The name ‘Awoodade’ will mean a lot of people as well as many who already know the name will understand why that name.”
This is going to be a tale of tales as a former WBO Africa and Commonwealth Champion faces a National super middleweight final eliminator.
Obodai Sai who is the former WBO Africa and Commonwealth Champion has not been in the ring for a while but bring in some experience that many boxing fans would love to see.
Ghana boxing is taking shape from the roots as boxers are calling out other boxers to show who really is ready to fight and not just rant and choose fighters they see fit to defeat.
in his conclusion, Lawson exclaimed, “it is sad how Derrick Quaye uses his defeating Ansah as a yardstick of him being the best in Ghana yet he was running away from a contract that was just next door. I am still hoping he will change his mind and give fans this fight.
