After an impressive performance in Match day 5 and 6 of the ongoing 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, where Ghana secured dominant victories with a 5-0 win over Chad and a 3-0 triumph against Madagascar, the Black Stars are set to participate in a four-nation tournament later this year.
The Black Stars remain unbeaten in Group I, having won five matches against Mali, Chad, the Central African Republic, and Madagascar, amassing a total of 15 points. They currently lead the group by five points ahead of Comoros, the only team to have defeated them in the qualifiers. Topping the group guarantees automatic qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Speaking exclusively to 3Sports reporter Mutala Yakubu in Morocco, the Black Stars Management Committee Chairman outlined the team’s plans ahead of the international break in June-July.
“Fortunately, the technical team and management will have the opportunity to further develop the squad. Since we do not have qualifiers in June, we will be playing in a four-nation friendly tournament in England. This will allow the coaches to assess the team and work on improvements. We are also hopeful that some of our injured players will recover and get the chance to feature in these matches before the September internationals,” he stated.
This tournament is one of the key preparations put in place for the remainder of the qualifiers in September. Though the Black Stars missed out on qualification for AFCON 2025, they are determined to redeem themselves by securing a spot at the 2026 World Cup.
