Danlad Ibrahim urges Kotoko fans to forgive Justice Blay

Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper and captain, Danlad Ibrahim, has made a passionate appeal to the Kotoko fraternity to forgive his former teammate Justice Blay following the backlash from recent comments Blay made about his time with the club.
Speaking exclusively on Akoma FM, Danlad refrained from directly addressing the substance of Blay’s remarks but chose instead to stand in solidarity with his former colleague, urging the Kotoko fanbase to show compassion and understanding.

“I would prefer not to comment on what Justice Blay said about Kotoko. However, I want to take this opportunity to plead with the Kotoko family on behalf of my brother,” Danlad stated.

Blay has been in the spotlight after a candid interview that drew criticism from a section of the club’s supporters. He has since issued a public apology for his comments, but the fallout continues to stir reactions within the Kotoko community.

Danlad, who now plies his trade with Ethiopian Coffee SC, acknowledged the emotional weight of Blay’s service to the Porcupine Warriors and called for unity.

“Although he has already issued an apology, I ask that you forgive him. He came to Kotoko and served the club with all his heart, and I believe that deserves some understanding.”

Reflecting on his own time at Kotoko, Danlad revealed that players were often guided not to speak publicly without approval from the club.

He used the platform to share some advice for current and upcoming footballers.

“During my time at Kotoko, we were often restricted from granting interviews. I would like to humbly advise my colleagues and younger players to always seek guidance from their clubs or a trusted manager before speaking to the media. It’s important to protect the reputation we work so hard to build.”

His words come at a time when player media conduct is under growing scrutiny, especially in light of how quickly statements can spiral on social media.

Danlad’s calm and respectful intervention may go a long way in calming nerves as the club prepares for its continental campaign in the CAF Confederation Cup.
