Senegal, Morocco and Nigeria emerged as the standout nations in the official Confederation of African Football (CAF) Team of the Tournament for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, following a thrilling competition that showcased the continent’s finest talent.

Fresh off their title triumph, Senegal unsurprisingly led the way with multiple inclusions, reflecting their consistency, physical dominance and tactical discipline throughout the tournament. The Teranga Lions’ players were influential in all departments, anchoring the defence, controlling midfield battles and delivering decisive moments in attack en route to lifting the trophy.

Finalists Morocco also enjoyed strong representation after an impressive campaign that combined defensive solidity with flair in forward areas. The Atlas Lions’ players were praised for their composure under pressure, particularly in knockout matches, where their resilience and game management stood out despite falling just short in the final.

Nigeria completed the trio of dominant nations, with several Super Eagles stars earning places after a spirited run that underlined their attacking threat and intensity. Their players were instrumental in key matches, producing match-winning performances that carried the team deep into the latter stages of the competition.

The CAF Team of the Tournament, selected by the Confederation’s Technical Study Group, recognises players who consistently performed at the highest level across the competition. The strong presence of Senegal, Morocco and Nigeria underlines their status as Africa’s current football powerhouses and reflects the quality, depth and tactical maturity on display at the 2025 AFCON.

With emerging stars also making the cut alongside established names, the selection highlights both the present strength and the promising future of African football, setting the tone for the next international cycle.
