PKO Boxing, in collaboration with the PKO Foundation, has announced the appointment of Marvellous Nana Yaw Konadu as its new President, with immediate effect.

The organization disclosed that the decision was taken more than a week ago but was formally confirmed after the completion of due diligence and all required compliance processes. Konadu subsequently underwent a comprehensive assessment and received unanimous approval from the Board of Directors and key stakeholders.

Widely regarded as one of Ghana’s most decorated boxers, Nana Yaw Konadu brings a distinguished legacy to the role. Born in Sunyani in 1964, he enjoyed an illustrious professional career, amassing a record of 41 wins, five defeats and one draw, with an impressive 32 victories coming by knockout.

Konadu captured world titles in two weight divisions, winning the World Boxing Council (WBC) super flyweight championship in 1989 before going on to claim the World Boxing Association (WBA) bantamweight title twice in the mid-1990s. His success on the global stage significantly enhanced Ghana’s profile in international boxing and cemented his status as one of the nation’s most respected fighters.

PKO Boxing highlighted Konadu’s personal values as a key factor behind his appointment.

“Nana Yaw Konadu represents humility, hard work, transparency and trustworthiness,” the organization said in a statement. “His leadership offers hope to fellow boxers and aligns perfectly with PKO’s mission to protect athletes, promote integrity and nurture future world champions.”

The company reiterated that the welfare and development of boxers remain central to its vision and operations.

PKO Boxing also expressed appreciation to former interim Honorary President Joseph Agbeko, who stepped aside following the transition.

“We are grateful to Joseph Agbeko for his dedication and contribution during the interim period while the organization was being structured and formally established,” the statement added.

In a related development, PKO Boxing announced the appointment of Mrs. Princess Sandelle Dankwa as its new Public Relations and Marketing Manager. Her appointment, like Konadu’s, was unanimously approved after a thorough review process.

Dankwa brings a strong background in communications, marketing and stakeholder engagement and is expected to play a key role in strengthening PKO Boxing’s brand visibility and enhancing its public outreach efforts.
