Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have suspended all football-related activities following the tragic death of a supporter, the club has confirmed.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, the Porcupine Warriors expressed deep sorrow over the incident and announced an immediate halt to training, matches, and other football operations as a mark of respect.
“The entire Asante Kotoko family is devastated by this unfortunate loss,” the statement read. “Out of respect for the deceased and in solidarity with the bereaved family, the club has decided to suspend all football activities until further notice.”
The club further extended its condolences to the family, friends, and supporters of the deceased, describing the incident as a painful moment for the Kotoko fraternity and Ghana football as a whole.
While details surrounding the incident remain limited, Kotoko confirmed that they are working closely with relevant authorities to fully understand the circumstances leading to the supporter’s death.
Asante Kotoko also called on their fans to remain calm and united during this difficult period, stressing the need for peace, respect, and cooperation as investigations continue.
The suspension of activities underscores the club’s commitment to honoring its supporters, who remain the heartbeat of the Porcupine Warriors, and highlights the profound impact the tragedy has had on the club and the wider football community.
