The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that its Disciplinary Committee will deliver a decision regarding the incidents that marred the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final within the next 48 hours.

CAF confirmed that the committee has been reviewing reports from match officials, video evidence, and security personnel following chaotic scenes at the conclusion of the tournament’s showpiece match. The incidents reportedly involved confrontations between players, technical staff, and match officials.

A CAF statement said: “The Disciplinary Committee has thoroughly examined all reports and evidence relating to the AFCON 2025 final. A decision on any sanctions or penalties will be communicated within the next 48 hours.”

The ruling is expected to clarify potential suspensions, fines, or other disciplinary measures for players and officials involved. Fans and stakeholders across the continent are eagerly awaiting the outcome, which could have implications for national teams and upcoming CAF competitions.

CAF emphasized its commitment to maintaining discipline and fair play in African football, warning that any conduct that undermines the integrity of the game will be dealt with firmly.

The governing body’s swift handling of the matter reflects its aim to restore order and confidence following one of the most controversial finals in recent AFCON history.
