Black Queens Open WAFCON Preparations with Pinks Ladies Cup in UAE

Ghana’s senior women’s national team, the Black Queens, have begun preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) by participating in the Pinks Ladies Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

The invitational tournament provides the Black Queens with a valuable platform to assess their readiness, build team cohesion, and test tactical approaches against international opposition ahead of the continental showpiece.

Technical handlers are expected to use the competition to evaluate both experienced players and new call-ups, as the team continues to rebuild and strengthen its squad. The matches will also help the coaching staff identify areas that require improvement before WAFCON kicks off.

Officials from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have described the Pinks Ladies Cup as a key component of the Black Queens’ preparation strategy, noting that exposure to high-level competition is essential for the team’s development.

“The tournament offers the players competitive match experience and helps the technical team fine-tune strategies ahead of WAFCON,” a GFA source said.

The Black Queens are aiming to make a strong return to the continental stage and reassert themselves among Africa’s leading women’s football nations. Participation in the Pinks Ladies Cup is expected to provide momentum and confidence as preparations intensify.

Fans will be keenly watching the team’s progress in the UAE, hopeful that the early preparations will translate into a successful WAFCON campaign.
