Eight-time Olympic medalist, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has always made it her mission to help and inspire the next generation and, as such, has extended her role as National Ambassador for UNICEF Jamaica.

One of the nation’s most accomplished athletes and a passionate defender of children’s rights, the 10-time World champion was appointed the first National Ambassador for UNICEF Jamaica in 2010.

Working to improve services and protect the rights of children in Jamaica, encouraging Jamaican children to believe that they can achieve their dreams and helping Jamaican children understand that they have rights that should be protected are some of the roles Fraser-Pryce carries out as the nation’s UNICEF Ambassador.

Known as the ‘Pocket Rocket,’ she holds a degree in Child and Adolescent Development from the University of Technology (UTech), was awarded The Order of Distinction (OD), for outstanding and important services to Jamaica, and operates her own charitable foundation, the ‘Pocket Rocket Foundation.’

“Today I am proud to extend my role as the National Ambassador for UNICEF Jamaica and to continue the critical work of improving the quality of services for children and ensuring the protection of their rights,” Fraser-Pryce said in a post on social media on Tuesday.

“It was a pleasure to meet with Olga Isaza, Representative for UNICEF Jamaica, as we embark on an even more fruitful and impactful relationship,” she added.

Since February 2023, Isaza, a native of Colombia, has served as the representative of UNICEF Jamaica.
