Ghana’s Minister for Youth and Sports is set to address the 8th AIPS Africa Congress, scheduled to take place in Banjul, The Gambia, bringing together sports journalists and media professionals from across the continent.

The high-profile congress, organised by the African chapter of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS Africa), serves as a vital platform for discussions on sports development, media professionalism, ethics, and the evolving role of sports journalism in Africa.

The Minister’s participation underscores Ghana’s commitment to strengthening sports governance and fostering closer collaboration between policymakers and the sports media. In his address, he is expected to highlight the government’s vision for sports development, youth empowerment, and the importance of responsible journalism in promoting African sports on the global stage.

The congress will feature panel discussions, workshops, and networking sessions aimed at enhancing journalistic standards, embracing digital transformation, and addressing challenges facing sports reporting in Africa. Delegates from more than 40 African countries are expected to attend the event.

Ghana’s representation at the congress also reflects the country’s active involvement in continental sports initiatives and its continued support for media-driven sports development.

The 8th AIPS Africa Congress is expected to conclude with strategic resolutions to guide the association’s activities and strengthen the voice of African sports journalists in international sports discourse.
