Iñaki Williams was the hero as Athletic Club booked their place in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey with a hard-fought victory, delivering when it mattered most to keep Los Leones’ cup dream alive.

The Ghanaian-born forward produced a decisive moment of quality, finding the back of the net to separate the two sides in an intense encounter that lived up to its billing. Williams’ goal not only settled the contest but also underlined his importance to Ernesto Valverde’s side in crucial matches.

Athletic Club started the game with purpose, pressing aggressively and looking to exploit spaces behind the opposition defence. Despite facing strong resistance, they remained patient, moving the ball confidently and creating half-chances through the Williams brothers and the midfield engine room.

The breakthrough finally arrived when Iñaki Williams latched onto a well-weighted pass and finished clinically, sending the home fans into celebration. His pace and composure proved decisive, as the opposition struggled to cope with his movement throughout the game.

Defensively, Athletic Club showed resilience, maintaining their shape and limiting clear-cut chances. The backline stood firm under late pressure, while the goalkeeper produced key saves to preserve the advantage until the final whistle.

With this victory, Athletic Club advance to the Copa del Rey semi-finals, keeping alive their hopes of lifting the trophy once again. For Iñaki Williams, it was another reminder of his big-game pedigree and his ability to deliver on the grand stage.

Athletic will now turn their attention to the semi-final draw, as they edge closer to a potential Copa del Rey final and another chapter of success in their storied cup history.
