Reigning Olympic Champion Rai Benjamin has confirmed to enter the starting blocks for the 2025 Pre Classic Men’s 400-meter Hurdles event.

One of the greatest to ever race the event, Benjamin is a four-time Olympic medalist, having won gold in both the men’s 400m hurdles and the men’s 4x400m relay at the Paris Olympic Games, silver in the men’s 400m hurdles at the Tokyo Olympic Games, and gold in the men’s 4x400m at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Benjamin also has five World Athletics Championships medals to his name between the men’s 400m hurdles and 4x400m relays, and has claimed every U.S. title in the men’s 400m hurdles since 2019.

This will be the fifth Prefontaine Classic that Benjamin will compete in, the first being in 2015 as a high schooler in the boys 200m. The most recent time Benjamin raced at The Prefontaine Classic was in 2023, when he won the Wanda Diamond League Final title in a meet record time of 46.39.

The 50th edition of The Prefontaine Classic will be held on Saturday, July 5 at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon. Tickets start at just $25 and may be purchased at PreClassic.com (PreClassic.com/tickets). Lexus Legacy Experience VIP packages, which can be purchased in addition to an event ticket, are on sale now at PreClassic.com (PreClassic.com/vip).

All athletes currently confirmed to compete at this year’s Pre Classic can be viewed at PreClassic.com (PreClassic.com/schedule).
