The 2026 edition of the Nestlé Milo U13 Championship officially kicks off today at the Sekondi Sports Stadium, bringing together some of the most promising young football talents from across Ghana.
A total of 16 basic schools each representing one of the country’s regions will compete over the next four days in what has become one of Ghana’s most important grassroots football platforms. The tournament not only offers young players the chance to showcase their abilities on a national stage but also serves as a vital pipeline for discovering future stars.
Adding prestige to this year’s competition is the presence of Ghanaian football icons such as Asamoah Gyan and Stephen Appiah, whose attendance is expected to inspire the young participants. Both legends have long been advocates for youth development and their involvement highlights the importance of nurturing talent at the grassroots level.
Defending champions Adrobaa R/C Basic School from the Ahafo Region return to defend their crown after an impressive run in the previous edition. They will face stiff competition from equally determined schools eager to etch their names into the tournament’s history.
Over the years, the Milo U13 Championship has built a reputation for unearthing exceptional talent, with several players going on to achieve success on both local and international stages. This year’s edition aims to continue that legacy, providing a platform where raw potential can be identified and developed.
The tournament will run for four days, culminating in the grand finale on Saturday. With pride, glory, and future opportunities at stake, fans can expect thrilling matches, emerging stars, and a celebration of Ghana’s rich football culture.
