Premier League Clubs Active in Summer Transfer Market as Big Deals and Free Agents Shape 2025-26 Season
With the summer transfer window well underway, Premier League clubs are actively reshaping their squads ahead of the new 2025-26 season, which kicks off on 15 August with defending champions Liverpool hosting Bournemouth at Anfield.
Several major signings have already made headlines. Liverpool have secured a £116 million agreement to bring in highly-rated German attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen. The Reds are also in advanced talks to sign Bournemouth’s Hungarian left-back Milos Kerkez in a deal expected to be worth between £40 million and £45 million.
Manchester United have made a significant move of their own by completing the £62.5 million transfer of Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Meanwhile, reigning champions Manchester City have bolstered their midfield with the addition of Dutch international Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan, in a deal worth an initial £46.5 million.
Beyond the big-money moves, the transfer window is also presenting opportunities for clubs to snap up proven talent without a transfer fee. A host of experienced Premier League players are set to become free agents on 1 July, offering potential bargains for clubs looking to add depth and experience.
As these players weigh their options, it remains to be seen whether they will remain in the Premier League or pursue opportunities abroad.
