Asante Kotoko have touched down in Durban, South Africa, ahead of their highly anticipated clash with Kaizer Chiefs in the 2025 edition of the Toyota Cup.

The Porcupine Warriors’ delegation, comprising 25 players and a dozen officials, departed Accra on Tuesday night and arrived on Wednesday morning at King Shaka International Airport.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, July 23, the club confirmed their smooth arrival and warm reception from their South African hosts:

“The Porcupine Warriors received a warm welcome from officials of Amakhosi on arrival and are lodged in at the Protea Hotel Fire and Ice.”

After settling in, the team is expected to take a brief rest before resuming full training on Thursday in preparation for Saturday’s fixture.

Kotoko will lock horns with Kaizer Chiefs at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. The match forms a key part of Kotoko’s preseason activities as the Ghanaian giants gear up for their return to continental competition next season.

The Toyota Cup not only renews the historic friendship between the two clubs but also provides both teams with a competitive platform ahead of their respective campaigns. With fans eagerly awaiting this classic showdown, anticipation is building for what promises to be a thrilling encounter between two of Africa’s most storied football institutions.
