Celebrating their 10th anniversary in the music industry, one of the prominent South African music groups, Mafikizolo, celebrated local athlete, Letsile Tebogo, for making Batswana proud by winning the Gold Medal at the World Olympics recently.

According to co-lead singer, Theo, Letsile made not only Botswana but all the Africans including Batswana from different corners of the continent proud of his win. He said he wanted Africans to celebrate their own kind and talent.

The group also remembered its deceased member and took their fans down the memory lane with their old songs. Ringo, also gave his local audience a splendid performance and performed some of his popular songs, Sondela, Kum nakum, Baleka and others. Local jazz artist, Nnunu Ramogotsi, did not want to be left behind as she treated her fans to a beautiful performance.

Her Herero bright coloured dress was the centre of attraction and her energy on stage could not go unnoticed. A local band, Encore, also delivered a sterling performance as they sang both their songs and those of renowned artists both locally and internationally.

Even though most people were looking forward to Zonke’s performance, some were disappointed and believed she did not deliver to her standard.

However, the whole of the Gaborone International Music and Cultural [GIMC] Jazz Festival lived up to expectations as local DJs also delivered the best songs, keeping everyone dancing. The music, set up, sound system and line-up was just a thrill.
