FC AshantiGold 04 have officially booked their place in next season’s Ghana Premier League after an emphatic 4-1 victory over Skyy FC secured promotion with three matches still left to play in Zone II of the Access Bank Division One League.
The commanding result capped off what has been a remarkable campaign for the Obuasi-based side, who have consistently demonstrated quality, resilience, and winning mentality throughout the season. Under the experienced guidance of Karim Zito, FC AshantiGold 04 have grown into one of the most formidable teams in the division, combining attacking flair with defensive solidity on their march to the top flight.
Their latest victory over Skyy FC was another clear statement of intent. With promotion on the line, Zito’s men rose to the occasion in impressive fashion, dominating proceedings and producing a clinical attacking display that left no doubt about their Premier League credentials. Securing promotion with three games to spare is a testament to their consistency and the high standards they have maintained all season.
The achievement also represents an important moment for football in the Adansiman area, as FC AshantiGold 04 prepare to bring top-flight football back to one of Ghana’s most passionate football communities.
However, while the club carries the AshantiGold name and is based in Obuasi, it is legally distinct from the former Ashanti Gold SC. The original club was suspended and demoted to Division Two by the Ghana Football Association following a match-fixing scandal during the 2020/21 season.
FC AshantiGold 04 is instead a rebranded version of Bekwai Heroes FC, established to compete in the 2025/26 Division One League while representing the Adansiman community. The Ghana Football Association has clarified that the club is a separate legal entity and does not inherit any sanctions or liabilities linked to the former AshantiGold SC.
With promotion now secured, attention shifts toward building a competitive squad capable of holding its own in the Premier League. For Karim Zito and his ambitious side, the immediate target may have been achieved, but a bigger challenge now awaits — proving they belong among Ghana’s elite clubs.
