Brandon Thomas-Asante on target as Coventry City beat Wrexham 3-1

Brandon Thomas-Asante continued his fine scoring form on Sunday afternoon, delivering another standout performance as Coventry City F.C. recorded an impressive 3-1 victory over Wrexham A.F.C. at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

The Ghana international was named in the starting lineup for Coventry’s Matchday 45 clash and once again justified his selection with a clinical display in attack. Although the fixture carried little significance in terms of league standings for the home side, Coventry approached the contest with sharp intensity and attacking intent, taking charge from the opening whistle.

Their bright start was rewarded in the 19th minute through Thomas-Asante, who showcased the instincts of a natural finisher. A dazzling run down the flank by Ephron Mason-Clark created the opening, with his delicate cross to the far post finding the Ghanaian striker in space. Thomas-Asante timed his movement perfectly to beat the offside trap before calmly slotting home, handing Coventry a deserved lead.

The goal marked his 13th league strike of the Championship campaign — an impressive return that underlines his importance to Coventry’s promotion charge and highlights his consistency in front of goal throughout the season.

Wrexham responded positively and pulled level six minutes later through Oliver Rathbone, who finished neatly to restore parity before halftime. However, Coventry emerged stronger in the second half and turned their dominance into goals late on, with Victor Torp and Mason-Clark both finding the net in the closing stages to seal a deserved victory.

For Ghana, Thomas-Asante’s continued scoring form is an encouraging sign ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. With the Black Stars having struggled for consistency and cutting edge in attack in recent outings, the striker’s confidence, movement, and finishing ability could provide a much-needed spark on football’s biggest stage.

Having established himself as a key figure at Coventry and now boasting 13 Championship goals this season, Brandon Thomas-Asante is making a strong statement at exactly the right time. As Ghana prepares for the Mundial, many will be looking to the in-form forward as a player capable of making a major impact when it matters most.
