American sprinter – Fredrick Lee Kerley has spoken about the value he places on the 100m bronze medal he won at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Despite going into the men’s 100m final at the Stade de France with an Olympic silver medal under his sleeves, Kerley who finished second to Marcell Jacobs at the Tokyo 2020 Games, was seen as an outsider to win a medal in France due to up, and downs in his form on the road to the Olympics.
But in the end, the 29-year-old San Antonio [Texas] born sprinter coasted 9.81 seconds to finish 3rd, behind Kishane Thompson, and Noah Lyles.
On Sunday, August 25, after winning the men’s 100m at the Silesia Diamond League in Poland, Kerley explained how valuable his bronze medal won at Paris really means to him and how he’s hoping to culminate the season on a high:
“I really cannot complain. I had some ups and downs this year. Winning that bronze medal in Paris really means a gold to me.
“So I continue the works and trying to be the best athlete in the world. Up to the next one.
“The 400m, it is very competitive and I love all these guys. It is definitelly one of the most competitive events. The venue is nice.
“I came here last year and the conditions are even better now and I came ou with the win, I was second last time. So I cannot complain.
“The W is always good. I am all way to the end of the season but feel like my season has not started yet.
“I ran 81 a couple of weeks ago. But Paris right? It is done. Hopefully, I can end a season with a PB.”
