After a successful Olympic Games performanance in Paris, Motswana sprinter – Letsile ‘Schoolboy’ Tebogo returned to the Diamond League in Lausanne, Switzerland on Thursday with a win in the men’s 200m, which is fast becoming his signature event.
The Kanye [Botswana] born sprinter [Tebogo] who left Paris in a golden footprint having become the first ever African to win a gold medal in the history of the Olympic Games, winning the 200m in 19.46 seconds was it his best again in Lausanne where he coasted 19.64 seconds to dominate yet another American duo – Erriyon Knighton [19.78], and Fred Kerley [19.86].
Speaking in a post race interview, the 21yr old Tebogo who broke the 300m world record having ran 30.69 seconds in Pretoria, South Africa on February 17, 2024 said he was pleased with his post Olympic Games performance.

“It was a great race for me here today in Lausanne, to be able to return here the following year is very cool to me.
“I think the most important thing for me is that even after such achievements like the ones I did at the Olympics, at the end of the day you just have to keep running to maintain the form throughout the season. So that being done here in athletissima, I´m satisfied.”
Despite having the potential to achieving more in his career, the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris will forever remain a happily ever after event in the heart of Letsile Tebogo having snatched gold from the spikes of Kenneth Bednarek, and Noah Lyles, as well as anchoring Botswana to win silver medal in the men’s 4x400m final.
