Letsile Tebogo continues to prove the reason why he is the hope of Africa when it comes to the men’s 200 metres.
The 21-year-old Botswana sprinter [Tebogo] kept his winning streak intact at the Silesia Diamond League meeting in Poland on Sunday having comeback from a poor start to win the men’s 200m in 19.83 seconds.
Unlike his smooth runs at the just ended 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, and the Diamond League in Lausanne on Thursday, ‘Schoolboy’ had to switch gears in the final 70m in order to beat Kenny Bednarek [20.00], and Alexander Ogando of the Dominican Republic [19.86] for the photo finish victory.
Tebogo, the fifth fastest man ever [19.46] over the 200m realized his error and promised to correct it before the 2024 Diamond League final in Brussels, Belgium.
“My momentum was bad bad. That is something I have to work on. At the finish I did not even think I won the race. But it is a good victory.
“In the Diamond League finals I need to fire on all cylinders. But overall, the season has been amazing. After the Olympics, I wanted to just have fun in the remaining meetings.”
